Which type of demand variation cannot be forecast no matter how sophisticated the model?
Random (noise) variation lacks pattern and is by definition unforecastable; the best a model can do is estimate its standard deviation for safety-stock purposes. Trend, seasonality and cycles have identifiable structures.
