Where are chromaffin cells located?

The ovarian cortex is not the location of chromaffin cells. This area of the ovary is instead primarily composed of ovarian follicles at various stages of development and stromal cells. Chromaffin cells, which produce adrenaline and noradrenaline, are not found in this part of the ovary.

The ovarian medulla does not contain chromaffin cells. This inner part of the ovary is mainly composed of blood vessels, lymph vessels, and nerves. It does not house the chromaffin cells that produce and release adrenaline and noradrenaline.

Chromaffin cells are not found in the suprarenal cortex. This outer layer of the adrenal gland contains three zones that produce different types of hormones: the zona glomerulosa produces mineralocorticoids; the zona fasciculata produces glucocorticoids; and the zona reticularis produces androgens. Chromaffin cells, which produce adrenaline and noradrenaline, are located in the inner layer of the adrenal gland, the suprarenal medulla.
